The last time I went on an actual job intervew was many many years ago. I am lucky in that starting my own business was the right decision for me. But for those people who are not as lucky as me...yet! heres a few tips to get you that job you have always dreamed of, instead of that job that just happens to be on offer!

OK, so you may now have a career objective and you understand your own beliefs and values as they relate to your aspirations. even so there are many more challenges ahead.

When you begin your job search, it is very important to avoid the following downfalls which are frequently made by people looking for employment. First you must be very specific in your job search targets. Employers will not take on someone who will take anything. There looking for someone who is qualified and wants that particular job they are trying to fill, not just someone without a clear career goal, you also need to be flexible during your job search.

Employers are keen to know if you can help them with their needs and problems. Research before meeting directly with interviewers to know what issues they face. Research may include, the internet resources, networking, and professional journals can reveal alot.

Dress important and neat, the interviewer’s first impression of you will last, you don't often get a second chance to maske a first impression, so make it positive. A resume is needed to market yourself to a prospective employer. The majority of employers ask for and will expect job applicants to include a resume with an application for employment. Your resume is the second piece of information an employer receives from you and should tell the employer what makes you the best candidate for the job. Always include a copy of your resume when applying for a vacancy.

Understand what is really being asked. Some interview questions are carefully selected to uncover your credentials, adaptive skills, and personality. Are you reliable? a good worker? should I hire you? Answer questions briefly and in a constructive manner. Dont be hasty to answear quesions quickly, think before you speak, acknowledge the facts, but present them positively. Ensure that you close the interview as effectively as possible. Take a few moments to highlight the key points of the interview.

Prepared to ask questions of your own. If youve researched the organization sucessfully, you will be familiar with recent events. Asking questions about the organizations specific issues will highlight your interest in the position.
